Refrigerated warehouses

Below a selection of examples of the use of pre-insulated pipes in the field of Refrigerated warehouses.

Economy of refrigeration systems

The capacity of industrial refrigeration systems is for many centuries leading figure for designing and erection. Increasing energy costs force operators of cooling houses, conditioned logostic centers and deep-freeze facilities. But not only the core processes stand in focus.
Even the comprehensive, more global infrastructure needs to be included in an economic evaluation.
In many cooling houses countless kilometers of pipe, the source of extensive energy losses, initiated by heat loss to ambient, are symptom for growing costs. Independant from operation mode: Warm- or cold pipes.

  • Therefore: The efficiency of thermal insulation on pipes represents the main factor in calculations about energy loss and further energy balance.

Jabitherm Rohrsysteme AG traces with the implementation of polyurethane foam for thermal insulation the goal of saving energy while processing in pipes consequently. In conjunction with a diffusion-tight, spiralled inside fold protective jacket, the foam insulation has proven to show significant advantages compared to competing technologies.

Particularly refrigerating plants which are not affected by BImschG (federal immission control act)  those pre-insulated pipes are used.
The high energy efficiency of polyurethane foam insulation is an essential factor for keeping core demand: Consumption of max 3 to cooling agent NH3.

For more than 20 years, refrigeration systems and logistic centres are equipped with pre-insulated pipes, designed and manufactured by Jabitherm Rohrsysteme AG.
The adjacent map shows an overall view about plenty of projects, all indicating installations in the previous years with pipe system RAPID-COOL.

The pipe run underneath the ceiling leads the cooling agent to the evaporators. It is characterised by several straight pipe lines and numerous junctions and formed parts.

Perfectly suitable for this kind of pipe design is pre-insulated pipe series RAPID-EASY CUTTING, which is outstanding due to particularly simple assembly.
Protective jacket and insulating foam can easily be removed.
It allows to prepare junctions and fitting parts in advance of following assembly.

Fresh produce center Dortmund, Germany

The REWE-Group started in 2019 a large fresh produce center at Dortmund.
The focus fell on two reasonable aspects: Energy saving and minimised employment/consumption of cooling agent.
The high expectations of the customer for refrigeration lines could be fulfilled by choosing Jabitherm system RAPID-COOL. Pipes insulated with polyurethane foam transfer NH3 at approximately -36°C in the cooling circuit.

The majority from the total quantity of approximately 5 km pipes installed, are mounted on top of roof areas.

Easy installation and the ability to assemble the pipe brackets on the outer protective jacket, lead to a dramatic decrease of installation effort and time on pipe network.
The easy installation, the outdoor long-term stability and energy-saving insulation technique were decisive in case of system choice.

Banana ripening Hamburg, Germany

Several halls have been erected in 2018 in the metro-politan area of Hamburg.
Their purpose was to establish a defined and reprodu-cible process for banana ripening. The conditioned halls contain ambitious refrigeration technique.
Jabitherm pipe system RAPID-COOL, conceived for cold insulation, had been implemented for the transport of cooling agent.
Cold brine transferred in pre-insulated pipes at -10°C

In this project finally 3 km pre-insulated pipe designed and manufactured by Jabitherm Rohrsysteme AG is installed. The majority of pipes operates indoor.
In case of installation outdoor, the ability to allow acces to pipes and step-resistant performance were essential.
Thus assuring long life, safe processing and reliability of complete pipe system.

Pipe sizes between DN 25 and DN 250 in combination with insulation thicknesses between 40mm to 80mm had been incorporated.

Significant for the pipe runs underneath ceilings of halls is a mixture of straight  pipe sections in combination with many branch lines for cooling technique. Completed finally by short pipe sections and numerous bends and junctions.

Perfect solution for this kind of pipe installation is pre-insulated pipe series  RAPID-EASY CUTTING. A pre-insulated pipe with easy-to-handle property. Protective jacket and insulating foam can easily be removed.
It allows to prepare junctions and fitting parts in advance of following assembly.
